How do you interact with the world?

Welcome!
Hi there! I’m Caitlin. I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) based in Providence, RI. My journey to a career I love has taken some navigation, but once I started in the Mental Health field, I was completely immersed. I graduated from Bridgewater State University in 2019 with a Master of Education in Mental Health Counseling and immediately started a job in a community agency where I worked for four years. Though being a newly graduated therapist when the pandemic hit created some challenges, I learned so much about the importance of relating to others and about myself as a person and as a therapist during that time. I became independently licensed in 2021, in both Rhode Island and Massachusetts, and launched my own private practice shortly thereafter. I absolutely love the work I do and I am always learning, particularly through my clients! Please walk through my site and reach out if you’d like, I’d love to hear from you!
The foundation of my work is based in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy. Psychodynamic Psychotherapy is talk therapy which focuses on how we relate to ourselves, others and the world, starting with our earliest relationships. What this means is that we work on increasing self-awareness of our own emotions, where they come from, why they are there, what they mean and how they impact us. One of the primary pieces my clients and I focus on are patterns - patterns of emotions, behaviors and ways we interact with ourselves and others - in order to be able to identify, explore and change patterns that are no longer working for us. I also aim to provide a lot of psychoeducation about how and why patterns are created, what functions our thoughts, feelings and behaviors perform, and our brain’s focus on survival. Please check out the FAQs below to see what types of difficulties can benefit from this type of treatment.
